This is me! Matbob! I'm here on this topic to present you a startup on how making anything in the domain of custom
characters making, like how to make good looking pictures, how to balance a character, etc. First of all, to get the goal
of an awesome character, we need to start with the beginning.
Prologue: The Way of Finding Videos/Pictures/Programs
To start to make a character and after making pictures, you need to have the episode of that character is in action to be
able to progress in this tutorial. These are website that you will be able to download episodes from differant anime.
Websites for Various Episodes:
• Anime-DS
• Anime-Access
• Animea
• AnimeCrazy
• One Piece HQ -> Only One Piece
Usefull Tools/Programs:
• VLC Media Player
• Photofiltre
Photoshop Templates for Your Character:
• Naruto Template
• Bleach Template -> Hinata-san
• Fairy Tail Template -> Fairy Tail Contest
• One Piece Template
• Soul Eater Template -> Soul Eater Contest
• Pokemon Template -> Clessenur
• Katekyo Hitman Reborn Template
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Step 1: Collect Your Screenshots
Since you have all your programs, download episode of the character and the template, you can start it by selecting
images of him/her. For making this quite good, you need to open:
• VLC Media Player
• Photoshop CS5
• Photofiltre -> Optional
Once you open VLC, click on Media -> Open a File and select the downloaded video with the image/screenshot you
need to search for. After you watch some parts of it and you find the most beautiful picture you could found for this skill
you were searching for, use Shift + S or go to Video -> Screenshot. Example:

Now, just repeat the same tasks to obtain all your 5 images (1 profile & 4 skills to make a basic character but you can
have the number you want). Now let's pass to step 2!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Step 2: Epic Adjustments for Epic Pictures
You have the pictures you needed, now you need to make them look great on the template. First of all, you will need to
drag down the screenshot on Photoshop to give them some good looking. Follow theses sides steps to make your
images after resizing your image in 75 x 75.
• 2.1: Sharpening
Sharpen is the effect that make your image looks less blurry and more pop-out of the initial image. To sharpen it go to
Filter -> Sharpen -> Sharpen. After it, you can fade the sharpening with, Edit -> Fade Sharpen. Now you will have to give
a certain amount of (%) of fading. These are some example of sharpening pictures with differents opacity. Example:

So depending on the initial screenshot, you can make difference into the sharpening of the picture.
• 2.2: Auto-Constrast/Brightness & Contrast
Auto-Constrast is a tool that make your image balanced depending on the initial brightness of the frame and you can see
this on Image -> Adjustments -> Auto-Constrast. If in some case, Auto-Constrast don't seem to work well, go to
Image -> Adjustments -> Brightness/Constrast. With this, you can manually change the image.
• 2.3: Vibrance
Vibrance is a special tool that only appear on Photoshop CS5 and may be quite awesome to make more great looking
pictures. Image -> Adjustments -> Vibrance. On it, you will have access to 1-100 with Vibrance. These examples below
will show you after sharpening them & giving the good contrast to them with differant (%). Example:

Step 3: Placements on the Template & Finishing Up
To place your modify pictures, drag them on Photoshop, select your image and go Edit > Copy. Go Edit > Paste and
place your image directly inside of the given 75x75 blank boxes, and once you're done, this will be the result.

These are the informations of the size and style of writing.
Trebuchet MS - Bold - 14.
For the skill descriptions, character description, cooldown and mission name are as followed;
Trebuchet Ms - Normal - 11.
For the classes, the settings used are as followed.
Trebuchet Ms - Normal - 10 - Gray.
To move the energy boxes from Point A (There designated spot) to Point B (Next to the ____ required: sentence) is
quiet easy. Just highlight it with the box tool and go to Edit > Copy. Then go Edit > Paste and move it over next to
the ___ required: and you've got your energy, text and images. Now, this is how your character will look like.

Extra: Styles for Skills Names
Depending on your feeling, adding some fancy effect on your skills names can be a fun thing, but when you don't know
how to make it, this is a whole new problem. That's why I'm making this new step, Styles for Skills Names. To access
to these features, select the text you want to change and go Layer > Layer Style > Blending Options. On this, you have
differant Styles for yours text. The one mostly used for character are: Drop Shadow, Bevel & Emboss and Stroke.
• Extra 1.1: Drop Shadow
This is the settings of what could like a certain type of Drop Shadow on your Skill Name. If you don't like it, you can
change: Opacity, Angle, Distance and Size. For Example:

• Extra 1.2: Bevel & Emboss
This is the settings of what could like a certain type of Drop Shadow on your Skill Name. If you don't like it, you can
change in the structure, the Depth and the Size. In Shading: Angle, Alltitude and the Opacity of both Highlight & Shadow
Mode. For Example:

• Extra 1.3: Stroke
This is the settings of what could like a certain type of Drop Shadow on your Skill Name. Most of the time, the size 2 is
the best for this setting, nothing more can be change. For Example:

• Extra 1.4: Final
This is the differant choices you have for making your new style. Advice: You can mix them together to make new effect if
you want.
