The Legacy: Chapter 1- The Floating Sinner

In the pirate world, there were many infamous stories. There were tales of glory and valor. There were epics of villainy and treachery. There were accounts from history that depicted the most glorious and gruesome of fights. But among all these events true and fabricated there were only ten legends known to man, and one legacy that bound them all.

Among the first to begin the legacy was the Sinner and the Sage.

Garrinski met Flashy aboard his own ship. It had been stained in blood once again, but this time it was not the innocent that had been slain onboard. Every last one of Flashy�s men had suffered a wrath most dreadful. Garrinski approached the mesmerized pirate with a curious stare. Flashy lay on the main deck with his legs and arms spread far out, breathing silently. His attention was elsewhere and he took no notice of the other man who now circled around his body.

�Hrm, well if you�re finished here, I think I might be in need of a ship for my travels.� said Garrinkski.

�Wretched things we pirates are.� whispered Flashy. Garrinski barely heard the words come out of this man's mouth. The wind flowing through the sails distorted the quiet words, so immediately he tuned his attention to anything else audible that might escape this odd man�s lips. �They�ve never done any crimes worse than my own. And for that they were more wicked than I. Cowards and servants of evil�my deeds measured by demons' cast shadows,� he paused for a moment coming to realize he was in the company of another, �And what are your trespasses that I may kindly set you free from? For it is the only service I can provide that is free of cost.�

�Well I am no pirate sir,� started Garr.

Flashy began to laugh madly, �You are not a pirate you say? Funny I should find you on a pirate ship. Talking to a pirate captain. Asking for a pirate ship too, weren�t you?� The blood began rushing to Flashy's eyes as a wicked smile crept onto his face. �You�re not familiar with this sinner are you old man?� Flashy jumped to his feet and gripped the kunai which lay dormant at his side until this moment. With one quick throw he sent it flying at Garrinski�s head. Garrinski shifted the staff he carried towards the incoming chain leash and quickly dodged the kunai. It wrapped around the staff in a rapid whirlwind until Garr changed the momentum of the staff in a short rotation and planted the base of it into the mast�s rope tie.

Flashy gritted his teeth in frustration pulling at the weapon, struggling to free it, but to no avail. It was tied down to a very sturdy pole.

�I�m familiar with many a sinner, pirate. I hold no contempt for them, but only my prayers. Otherwise how could someone who has fallen on their own ever be able to rise again?�

Flash lost his devilish grin and stumbled back a few steps as if waking from a heavy blow or stun.

�I�m�sorry, I�I don�t know what came over me,� mumbled Flash. He spoke these words as if heavily disoriented. �I�ve tried for so many years to absolve my sins, like he wanted�.but I can�t, not with so many fools and demons in this world. It�s not�� Flash stopped and starred out to the sea with a look of distress.

�Listen friend. There are many sinners in the world. But you can�t allow them all to deter your dreams.� said Garrinski.

�My, d-dreams. I have but one dream now. Not a dream but a nightmare that haunts me in the brightest of days and warmest of suns. I must rid this world of those who sin�..and ignore this mark of evil. I will right those wrongs, because only I can carry the sins of this world on my back.� Flashy slowly bowed to the older man who stand before him until a black undistinguishable mark loomed on his backside.

�What is this?� asked Garrinski curiously nodding towards the figure.

�My chains sir. I will not forget I am a sinner until my body is devoured by the earth and this flesh deteriorates. These chains bind my sinning ways and allow me to repent my actions until I can be claimed by the almighty inferno.� Flashy�s voice began to break into a soft sobbing.

�Listen, my friend. You may have done the worst things imaginable, of this I'm sure. I will not try to console you or tell you need change your ways, but I beseech you for a ship. And upon such a gift you will have my undying gratitude. I will pay you one visit. In your next life I promise to come and see you one time and remind you of the path of redemption you once walked in your self certained damnation. What say you Sinner?�

�Although I doubt you may better me in this life, any face of forgiveness in the next among the eternity of agony I shall face will be most welcomed. How you do this I do not care, nor shall I hold against you if it not be done.�

�Let us go then Sinner. What may I call you?�

�Sinner seems to be fine enough. But I was once known by �Flashy�. Call me what you wish.�

��Flashy�, will be fine then. Well if we may let us set sail. There is a man I need to find.�

�Is he full of sin?� Flashy�s eyes gleamed and his body tensed as he asked this question.

�He�s been drowned in his own sin for many years now. He seeks not redemption, but revenge on those that cast him into this despair. I know his story all too well. We leave now. Ready the ship if you will.� Garrinski declared.

I wonder who's this man drowned in his own sin for many MANY years (hello)
good job on the story Garr . It must be really hard to find a basic story line .

Flashy's view of things changed really fast, but I'm glad there's finally a decent story out. There are a bunch of horrible ones out right know.

The character of 'Flashy' is one of dual personalities. A sorrowful man broken by his mistakes and a demon possessed and fueled by all that's evil in the world. His demeanor changes based on the presence of ill will. Thanks for the feedback though caasiiki. ;P

Wait, this seems similar (in one way or another) to the story you posted in NA..

Damn you are great with words. I actually imagined myself in their shoes, you painted your story perfectly.

quite long maybe you can split it into two parts. That can create more suspense.
