Tetsuo motioned to one of the guards stationed near the door to walk over and open it. As it swung open a man with an inquisitive squint stood alone. His bright blue eyes searched around the room quickly until he affixed them to the seated man feet in front of him. A hand traveled up to his shortly trimmed beard as he turned his head to the side.
“I think we got the right room this time. I told you it’d be at the top of the stairs.” said Garrinski to Vash who stood guard behind Flashy down the hall. The guard who had opened the door didn’t hesitate at this point in swinging his sword at the admiring intruder. Garrinski swayed in a quick movement and disarmed the guard with ease. He rendered him unconscious with a blow from the hilt of the same weapon before dropping it to the floor and stepping through the door.
“ Just who the f*** do you think you are!?” demanded Mr. Westing who was now behind his desk. A blue light shone in through the window behind Westing and continued to flash through. Vash and Flashy had now also entered the room behind Garrinski and stood looking past him. “Whoever the hell you are it won’t matter anyway. The chief of police is outside now and you’ll be dealt with shortly. Tetsuo!” yelled Westing. Immediately the masked man reached behind him and tossed what appeared to be a canister at the open door. Westing turned around with a gas mask strapped over his nose and mouth.
Vash and Garrinski wasted no time. Garrinski dealt with the two remaining guards as Vash leapt at Tetsuo with scythe in hand. Green gas began to fill the room slowly. Nicholas turned to his apparent rescuers and begun to speak as rapidly as he could, “Please, I’m not leaving here without my friend. He’s being held somewhere in this mansion. The chief has just come here to take him back to jail. He must be taken to safety before I can leave.”
“No,” said Flashy coldly, “we need you alive. You must stay with these two. I’ll find him for you, just tell me what he looks like.”
Nicholas smiled and gave him a quick description before thanking his mysterious ally.
“We have to get out of here, who knows what’s in that gas,” said Garrinski between coughs. Westing had reached into a drawer and brandished a pistol by this point of which he aimed directly at Nicholas. The first round fired off found itself buried in Nicholas’ chair and the second hit just by the edge of the doorframe. The rescue party made it’s way into the hallway and split up. Flashy took off down the hall and disappeared. The masked Tetsuo came out of the room first firing his pistol weapon sending several small darts at the bodies making their way towards the opposite end of the hallway. Vash moved at a non rushed speed facing his advancing foes and deflecting the dart projectiles, but as Westing came out gun in hand he was forced to make a dive into an open door room. Garrinski and Pike had rounded the corner at this point and were heading to the main staircase.
“You take care of that one Tetsuo, leave the other two to me!” cried out Westing. Both men began racing in the direction of their targets with rapid paces.
At the other end of the mansion Flashy heard a door open on the floor below. A blonde man in a ceremonial police uniform came into the room below with two policemen in tow. They seemed to be dragging a poor looking man through the room cuffed and motionless. In a few silent movements Flashy found himself behind the policemen poised for an attack.
“Freeze!” yelled the blonde man, taking hold of a metal rod at his hilt. He hadn’t turned around before Flashy had slit the throats of both police officers and held the captive man over his shoulder. The poor looking stranger called ’Crazy’ seemed groggy, but not completely unconscious at this point. “Release the criminal immediately and I might consider not persecuting you with the death penalty you bastard.” commanded the blonde officer. “Or if you wanna give it a go for a round we can see what you’re really made of.” He grinned after saying this as he readied himself in a combative stance.
Flashy knew he couldn’t run back to his companions with the half awake captive, but he wasn’t prepared for the blonde man’s quick advance.
“As Chief of Police for the city of Virwitch, you’re both under arrest. Stupid street rats.” the chief began as his metal rod landed a heavy blow to Flashy’s skull before he could set down the man he was holding up. With the single blow it dropped them both to the floor and left a sizable cut on Flashy’s head. This man was well trained and fast for his superior build. Flashy recovered and moved a short distance back from his attacker before wielding his kunai chain in hand.
“Street rats are we?” asked Flashy still recovering from the head blow.
“Well I suppose theirs really no other kind. But don’t worry I’m good at drowning rats. I usually get a good dozen everyday all to my own enjoyment.” said the chief with a pleasant inflection in his response. “They say there’s a million ways to skin a cat, but I think I’ve actually surpassed that theory with rats. Such creatures just don’t know how to,” Flashy lost track of the police officer as he dipped behind a stone column in the open gallery, “DIE!” the chief screamed as he came at Flashy from his right side. Flashy was sent through the air after a punch landed on the side of his face from the man in uniform.
Flashy grit his teeth as his spirit began to boil. “Killing rats, killing humans, tell me cheify, have you ever faced down a demon?” Flashy asked as his brow festered into a stare of anger and hatred. He rose to his feet and rearmed himself with his weapon. His entire form burned a fiery red shade now. The next few attack were launched by Flashy himself. They tore away parts of the pillar the chief ducked and dodged behind. As Flashy continued his assault the chief disappeared father down behind the pillars. Flashy felt a strong pull from his distanced chain attack and was forced toward the direction of the chief.
The chain got caught out of sight from the chiefs position. Before he could investigate with a turn of his head, a demonic figure stood by his side impaling a kunai knife into his side. The chief barely had time to move back before in shallowly buried itself into his abdomen.
“The rat always falls for the trap,” said the chief with a fiendish smirk. He swung his metal club at Flashy, but it failed to meet its mark. Flashy had seized it mid swing in his hand and was slowly forcing it back on his attacker.
“What do the demons do?” seethed Flashy. His eyes burned with evil intent, but as they shown their full intensity the chief wouldn’t remove his defiant smirk. The chief reached out to the club with his free hand and pressed a small button on it’s base. “RAWHHHHHHH!” Flashy screamed in pain. Volts of electricity surged through his body now with his hand forcefully held down on the metal bar. The chief began to laugh at the shaking man in front of his eyes before throwing a heavy punch into his stomach. This was just enough to send Flashy airborne once again and release him from his shock.
