I'm pretty sure it won't end on that day because in the bible it says no man will predict the day it happens. That's how I automatically eliminate that. Also it says the antichrist will be on earth, died, and come back by then. I can guarantee 100% that I won't die on that day.......unless by accident.

They used astronomy to predict other catastrophic events that ended up happening too. And a lot of people believe in it probably because a lot of rare stuff will be happening that day, like how earth completes one full cycle of precession every 26000 years and it just happens to be on that day it completes a cycle. Also they say that the sun will be directly in the center of the galaxy making another rare alignment. There are many other things that are predicted to happen that day, and that is probably what caused so many people to believe dec 21 2012 could be a doomsday.

They predicted that on 21. december 2012 the sun will be in line with the centre of milky way and earth will pass it...not the doom of the world
